Turner had the most prolific season of his career with the Icehawks in 2008-09, turning in career bests in goals (11), assists (26) and points (37). He finished the regular season with a +8 rating and tied for the team lead in points among defensemen. A big part of the Icehawks power play unit, he netted two goals and 13 assists on the power play.
The 2009-10 season is Turner’s sixth as a professional and first as a veteran in the IHL. The 27-year old native of Belleville, Ontario turned pro in the 2002-03 season with the Richmond Renegades in the East Coast Hockey League and went on to play four total seasons in the ECHL and one year at St. Thomas University before coming to Port Huron.
His ECHL career included two seasons with the Reading Royals (2003-2005), where he led the team to back-to-back playoff appearances, including a division championship. In the 2007-08 season, he played with the Phoenix Roadrunners and led the team in points among defensemen with seven goals and 25 assists in 70 games.
